Karl Urban

Karl -Heinz Urban ( born June 7, 1972 in Wellington ) is a New Zealand actor. He is best known in the role of Eomer in the Lord of the Rings trilogy by Peter Jackson.

Biography

Karl Urban was born in Wellington. His father, a German immigrant, was the owner of a manufacturing plant for leather goods. Urban attended St Mark's Church School in Wellington, where he early showed an enthusiasm for acting and also participated in school plays itself. At eight, he already got a first role in the New Zealand TV series Pioneer Woman.

After attending college he wanted to go to the Victoria University of Wellington, but instead played in soap operas such as Shortland Street and in fantasy series like Xena - Warrior Princess and Hercules. In both he stopped the audience in the recurring role of Cupid in memory.

A first supporting role in a Hollywood production had Urban, 2002 in Ghost Ship. In the same year he took over in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, the role of the Rohirrim, Éomer, as in the finale of the trilogy. Due to the great success of Peter Jackson's fantasy epic goal finally opened for Urban to Hollywood.

The next few years appeared Urban then mainly in international film productions. He got the role of unscrupulous assassin Kiril in The Bourne Supremacy and embodied function based on that Macbeth figure of Vaako in the science fiction film Riddick: The Chronicles of Riddick.

2005 Urban was next to Dwayne " The Rock" Johnson to see as the lead in the film adaptation of the first-person shooter Doom. In 2007, he embodied in Pathfinder - Legend of the Warrior, the main role of the young warrior Spirit.

In, which started in April 2009, the eleventh Star Trek film, he played the young Dr. Leonard " Bones" McCoy. In 2012 he was in the British sci- fi flick Dredd the eponymous Judge Dredd.

Urban lives with his wife and their two sons in Auckland, New Zealand.
