Karlstad University

The University of Karlstad (Swedish: Karlstad University ) is a public university in the Swedish city of Karlstad. With approximately 12,000 students and 1,182 academic staff (2007) it is one of the smaller universities in Scandinavia. The motto of the university is Sapere aude.

The University of Karlstad go to the university, founded in 1977 Karlstad (Swedish: högskolan i Karlstad ) back and received university status in 1999.

Faculties

The university is organized into four faculties:

  • Economics, Communication and IT
  • Technology and Science
  • Social and Life Sciences
  • Humanities and Education

Part of the Faculty of Arts since the year 2002, the Music Academy Ingesund (Swedish: Musikhögskolan Ingesund ), which, however, lies in the town of Arvika, about 80 km west of Karlstad.
