Karwar ( Kannada: ಕಾರವಾರ Kāravāra, Konkani: कारवार Karvar ) is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka with around 63,000 inhabitants ( 2001 census).

Karwar is situated some 520 kilometers northwest of Bangalore on the coast of the Arabian Sea, only 20 kilometers from the border of the neighboring Federal state of Goa in the northwest of Karnataka. The city is the administrative center of the district of Uttara Kannada. Karwar lies wedged between the mouth of the Kali River in the north and the foothills of the Western Ghats in the south, to penetrate here directly to the coast line and interrupt the flat coastal strip.

Karwar has a natural harbor on the Kali estuary. Here some 2.4 million tonnes of freight are implemented every year. Parallel to the coast there are the National Highway 17 and the Konkan Railway, connecting with Karwar Mangalore in the south and in the north of Mumbai.

The main language in Karwar is as in neighboring Goa Konkani. As an official language serves as throughout Karnataka Kannada. Some Konkani activists in Karwar request a connection to Goa.
