Kashmar

Kashmar or Kāshmar (Persian کاشمر ) is a city in the province of Razavi Khorasan in Iran. It is located 217 km south of Mashhad on the river Sish Taraz at an altitude of 1,215 m. Until the 18th century, they still bore the name Torschiz. A name variant was also Sultanabad. The region was called Pousht.

The city grows to 40 different types of grapes and is a major producer of raisins. It also produces saffron and Persian carpets. Among others, the Khorasan Na'in rug is woven größstenteils here at the site.

Among the attractions of the city include the Mazar- Garden ( Bāgh Mazar -e ) and the tombs Seyyed Mohammad -e Abed and the Ārāmgāh -e Modarres.

The already mentioned in Shahnameh oldest tree, the cypress of Kashmar, should also have been here.

In the city there are two universities, the Payam -e Only - University and the Islamic Azad University of Kashmar.
