Kasper Hämäläinen ( born August 8, 1986 in Turku ) is a Finnish footballer, who currently stands at Lech Poznan in Poland under contract.

Career

Association

He started his professional career with the Finnish first division side and hometown club Turun Palloseura. In June 2008, the Portuguese club Nacional Funchal was interested in a commitment, but the negotiations failed due to the transfer fee. Other clubs such as Roma, Lazio, Udinese Calcio, AC Siena and NEC Nijmegen showed interest, but he decided to stay in Turku.

In December 2009, he joined the Swedish first division club Djurgårdens IF. There he was immediately a regular player and played in the next three years getting all 30 league games of the season. In the first two seasons, he played in central midfield alongside his compatriot Daniel Sjölund. Since the season 2011/12 he was more moved into the attacking midfield and took over the role of playmaker.

End of January 2013 Hämäläinen joined the Polish first division club Lech Poznań. There he signed a three-year contract by the end of December 2015.

National

Hämäläinen was part of the Finnish U -17 national team at the U-17 World Cup 2003. Afterwards, he was a regular in the U-21 national team and qualified for the U -21 Football Championship in 2009, where he all three games played. His debut for the Finnish national football team, he celebrated on 19 November 2008 in the game against Switzerland. His first goal he scored on 17 November 2010 during match against San Marino, which was won 8-0.
