Kastrup is a suburb of Copenhagen suburb Tårnby in Tårnby municipality and at the same time capital of the parish community Kastrup Sogn, in the 10,081 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). Located in the east of the Danish island of Amager place is known as the site of the airport Kastrup, Scandinavia's largest airport. In the east it borders on the Sound, on the north by the Copenhagen neighborhoods Sundbyvester and Sundbyøster (collectively Sundbyerne ), on the west by Tårnby and in the south to the airport.

History

Early on, moved in to the Øresund coast industry. In order to transport limestone from the opposite island Saltholm 1749 a harbor was created for the Kastrupværk. Built in 1749-1754 Kalkwerk Headquartered in the 19th century, a brewery, which is why it is called today also Bryggergården ( Brauhof ). It is next to the airport opened in 1925 and the adjoining concession stand Flyvergrillen (1972 ) of the Danish Cultural Heritage in Kastrup. In the 19th century other industrial plants that were connected in 1907 with the Amagerbanen to the railway network emerged. One of the factories was founded in 1847 Kastrup Glasværk which established until 1979, among others, drinking and lamp glasses.

1884 held in the historicist style Kastrup Kirke was inaugurated, the bell tower was added in the early 1970s. 1978-1985 a large marina was north of the old industrial and fishing port created, which is part of Kastrup beach parks, a recreation area, which adjoins the north by the Amager beach park.

Today, Kastrup is characterized by open residential development, in which single-family homes, townhouses and small gardens alternate.

Traffic

At Copenhagen Kastrup airport tunnel station Københavns Lufthavn, Kastrup is located. In addition, the location of the underground stations Lufthavnen (last stop of the metro line M2) and Kastrup is connected to the network with the Copenhagen Metro. From the turn of the Lufthavn Øresundsmotorvejen motorway, part of the E 20, there is connection via the Drogdentunnel and the Öresund bridge ( Oresund connection) to Malmö and via Amagermotorvejen to the Danish motorway network.
