Katakolo

Katakolon (Greek Κατάκολο (n. sg. ) ) Is a village and a town in the municipality of Pyrgos in the Peloponnese, in the Greek region Western Greece. The village has 595 inhabitants, the village of 601 (as of 2001).

The place is situated on a promontory, which bore in ancient times the name Ichthys ( Ἰχθύς, fish ').

The town has a small harbor, which is frequently visited by cruise ships to allow passengers to visit the historical sites in Olympia.
