Katherine Scholes

Katherine Scholes ( * 1954 in Tanzania) is an Australian writer.

Life

Katherine Scholes was born on a mission station in Tanzania. After spending much of her childhood there, she moved to England and then to Tasmania, where she lives with her ​​husband, the filmmaker Roger Scholes, and their two sons today.

In Germany it was known in 1996 with her first children's book " Sam's whale " ("The boy and the Whale "). For her debut, she received the Whitley Book Award and was on the shortlist for the Australian Children's Book Award. For "The Blue Chameleon" Katherine Scholes got the New South Wales State Literary Award. Scholes ' novels " The Dream Dancer " and " The Rain Queen " are international bestsellers. In her novels, it goes almost exclusively to the relationship between mother and daughter.

With her ​​husband she produced feature films that take place in Tasmania.
