Katie Douglas

Kathryn Elizabeth Douglas ( born May 7, 1979 in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the Indiana Fever, as well as the tradition istanbul Galatasaray SK

Career

College

Katie Douglas played until 2001 for the women's basketball team at Purdue University with whom she the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship won in 1999. 2000 and 2001, she was appointed to the Kodak All-America and elected to the NCAA Women's Final Four All- Tournament Team in 1999 and 2001. In addition, they won the 2001 Big Ten Conference Suzy Favor Award.

WNBA (since 2001)

Douglas was selected by the Orlando Miracle in the tenth position in the WNBA Draft 2001. In the 2001 season, she played in 22 season games for the Miracle, but never stood in the starting lineup. The jump into the starting lineup of the Miracle she succeeded in the 2002 season, where she played in 30 of 32 games from the start. This season, she played an average of 25.9 minutes per game in that time, they scored an average of 8.5 points.

After the 2002 season, the Miracle were relocated to Connecticut. Thus they played from the 2003 season for the Connecticut Sun, where she also always stood up on a single game in the starting lineup. Douglas rose from season to season and was slow at the best players in the league. In the season of 2004 and 2005 she made it to the Sun even to the WNBA Finals, but where they initially failed because of the Seattle Storm and then to the Sacramento Monarchs. Douglas was able to convince the 2005 season primarily by their strong defensive play, thus it was also the end of this season in the WNBA All-Defensive First Team selected. In the 2006 season she presented with 16.4 points per game on a new personal record. Furthermore, she was voted the WNBA All-Star Game MVP of the game. They also landed in the election for the WNBA Most Valuable Player on the third place. In the 2007 season they could improve their scores on average 17 points per game. Since they also noticed again this season by their strong defensive play, she was elected team for the second time in her career in the WNBA All-Defensive First.

February 19, 2008 Douglas was transferred to the Indiana Fever Tamika Whitmore and for a first-round pick in the WNBA Draft 2008. In 2009 she reached the Fever WNBA Finals, where they failed because of the Phoenix Mercury. On 22 October 2009, the Galatasaray SK officially announced on his website that Douglas coming season will play in the Women's Basketball team.
