Katija Dragojevic

Katija Dragojevic Nylander (born 14 July 1970, Stockholm ) is a Swedish mezzo-soprano.

Life and work

Dragojevic attended the Adolf Fredrik's Music Klasser in Stockholm and sang in the choir girls. She then studied at the Royal College of Music Stockholm and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In 2000, she debuted as Krista in Janacek 's The Makropulos Case at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Bruxelles. Her international career took her to also La Scala in Milan, as Varvara as Kate Pinkerton and Siebel to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, as Cherubino in 2009 and 2011 at the Salzburg Festival, to Stockholm, Oslo and Luxembourg, and finally in the spring of 2012 Glasgow and Gothenburg, as well as Annio to the Edinburgh Festival and as to the Drottningholm Court Theatre Sesto.

At the Royal Opera in Stockholm, she also sang the pages in Salome and Meg Page in Verdi's Falstaff, in Oslo the title role in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, in Helsinki was the title role in Rossini's La Cenerentola, in London and New York, she as Lichas in Handel's Hercules to hear with Les Arts Florissants. At the Theater an der Wien Dragojevic 2011 debut as La Musica, Messaggiera and Speranza in Monteverdi's L' Orfeo. In 2012 she played there in Il ritorno d' Melanto the Ulisse in patria and in March 2014 she sings in Nikolaus Harnoncourt's Da Ponte cycle Dorabella. This game will take over at La Scala under Daniel Barenboim.

Her concert repertoire includes Bach's Magnificat, Mozart's Great Mass in C minor and Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn, and Michael Haydn's Missa Sancti Hieronymi and Temete Dominum. When Nobel Banquet in 2000 in Stockholm, she was heard as a soloist, played in Kasper Holten film version of Don Giovanni and she sang Zerlina, a role she also on stage in Baden -Baden - next to Anna Netrebko as Donna Anna - embodied.
