Katima Mulilo Bridge

The Katima Mulilo Bridge (also known as Zambezi bridge, english Zambezi Bridge ) is a bridge and Namibian border crossing over the Zambezi River between the towns of Katima Mulilo in Namibia ( on the southern shore ) and Sesheke in the Republic of Zambia ( on the North Shore ). The Katima Mulilo Bridge ( Bridge 508) is an important link on the Trans - Caprivi Highway (English: Trans Caprivi Highway), the national road B8 of Walvis Bay to Livingstone in Zambia and the only bridge over the Zambezi River for hundreds of miles.

The concrete bridge consists of 17 fields of 47.10 meters in length, which have two end spans a length of 38.35 meters. She is a total of 877.4 meters long. The total width of the bridge deck is 10.1 meters.

The bridge was inaugurated on 13 April 2004 after more than 20 years of political struggle and technical planning by the former Namibian President Sam Nujoma in Katima Mulilo. It was prepared under the direction of the company Hochtief after the incremental launching method.
