Katja Wächter

Katja Wächter ( born January 28, 1982 in Leipzig ) is a German foil fencer.

Katja Guardian began in 1990 with the fencing. Until 1997 she was trained by Horst Lessig, then by Lajos Somodi and now by Ingo Weissenborn. The Wuerzburg studied German at the Julius- Maximilians- University of Würzburg and starts for FC Tauberbischofsheim. 2005, 2007 and 2009, she was German Singles Champion, 2006, 2007 and 2011 champion team. 2006, 2008 and 2012, she won the bronze medal.

International was Guardian first major success, a fifth place at the Junior World Championship in 2002 in Antalya. The same position it reached in 2006 and 2007 with the German team at the European Championships in Izmir and Ghent. In some, she took each rank 18th for the first time in a World Championship in 2005, she took part in Leipzig and reached number 26 in singles and ninth with the team. The following year, in Turin guard was 21 in singles and 13 with the team. In 2007 she was 36th in St. Petersburg.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 she reached the quarter-finals as the best German, where she was eliminated against the Italian Giovanna Trillini. In 2009, she reached at the Fencing European Championships in Plovdiv the final, but it lost to Valentina Vezzali. In 2009 she won at the World Fencing Championships in Antalya with the team bronze.

In 2010 she won silver at the European Championships in Leipzig with the foil team.
