Katrín Jónsdóttir ( born May 31, 1977) is an Icelandic footballer. The defender played 1994-2013 for the Icelandic national team, is their record player and was last captain.

Career

Association

Katrín debut at age 14 in 1991 for Breiðablik Kópavogur in the Icelandic league and has been with the club three times Champion and one Cup Winners' Cup. In 1995, she played for UMF Stjarnan, but returned then to Breiðablik Kópavogurzurück. Then they played alternately for the Norwegian first division side Kolbotn IL and Breiðablik Kópavogur, then alternately for Valur Reykjavík, with whom she just repeatedly several times won the championship title and Kolbotn IL with whom she won the Norwegian championship. Since 2011 she plays in the Damallsvenskan, first for Djurgården Damfotboll and after their descent they will play in the 2013 season for the record champions Umeå IK.

National

Her first senior international Katrín completed on 9 May 1994 just before her 17th birthday in a 4-1 win against Scotland, but played until 2001 and still continues for the U-21 team. Since 26 August 2007 she is captain of the national team. She was part of the squad at the European Football Championship 2009 in Finland and the women stood in all three group matches on the court. The team was eliminated from the tournament with zero points, but lost it, both less than against Norway and Germany 0-1. In 2011 she reached with her team the final of the Algarve Cup, which they lost 2:4 against the United States, with which Iceland, which previously participated nine times, was able to place in the top four teams for the first time.

2013, it took the second time with the national team at the European Football Championship Women's part. In the first game against Norway, the Icelandic team was able to win the first point of the finals with a 1-1. After a 0-3 defeat against Germany the final group game against the Netherlands was won 1-0, with which Iceland first won a European Championship finals match and moved as the best group of third parties to the quarter- final against hosts Sweden.
