Katrina Leskanich

Katrina Leskanich ( born April 10, 1960 in Topeka, Kansas) is an American singer who was particularly known as frontwoman and lead vocalist of the band Katrina and the Waves.

With Katrina and the Waves Leskanich succeeded in 1985, the breakthrough with the song Walking on Sunshine. On 3 May 1997, she won for the United Kingdom the Euro Vision Song Contest with the title Love Shine a Light.

Leskanich was born the daughter of a USAF colonel in Topeka, Kansas. There she grew up with five brothers and sisters, until the family moved to Europe. After a few years in Germany and the Netherlands Leskanich 1976 came to London, where she still lives today.

After her exit with Katrina and the Waves in 1998, she had four years of a daily, multi -hour evening broadcast on radio station BBC Radio 2, and sang in the musical " Leader of the Pack " by Ellie Greenwich the lead role.
