Kaxinawá people

The Kaxinawá (also: Cashinahua, Kaschinawa, Kashinawa, Caxinauás ) are an indigenous ethnic group in South America in northeastern Peru and Brazil. They speak the southeastern Pano languages ​​, ISO 639-3 code: cbs.

They originally lived in the basin of Juruá River in Brazil, but the indigenous groups should be made as forced laborers in the late 19th century during the rubber boom, a small group initially fled into the jungle and then across the border to Peru. While the Peruvian Cashinahua could still retain a variety of ancient traditions, the lifestyle of the Brazilian Cashinahua has already largely aligned with the West. In both settlements, however, the language is no longer passed on to the generation of children.
