Location of Kayunga in Uganda

Kayunga is a city in Uganda and the capital of the district of the same name, one of the 77 districts of Uganda.

It lies about 76 km from the capital Kampala. Until after Kayunga an asphalt road, but that is very bad from Mukono. From Kayunga there are only dirt roads. You can reach the industrial town of Jinja in about two hours, the capital and in an hour.

Kayunga is close to the Nile and the Lake Kyoga, which is, however, near the city of Marsh. The nearby Victoria and the 1,000 m high location make the climate in Kayunga pleasant, despite the high temperatures.

Climate

The climate is hot year-round balanced by the location near the equator, due to the altitude but not excessively hot. Temperatures range between 19 ° C and 25 ° C. The rainy seasons are regular from March to May and August to November.

Economy

Industry is very rare in Kayunga, there are only some small carpenters, a coffee factory and two corn mills. The people in Kayunga rarely have a regulated and steady work, many have to pursue several activities. Moreover, they have in addition to their jobs, yet the work on their Kibanjas ( farms ) to do.

Among the crops grown include cassava, Kasava, plantains, corn, beans, sweet potatoes and fruit, such as pineapple. Supposedly coming from the Kayunga district, the sweetest pineapple in the world.
