The Kasanka (Russian Казанка; Tatar Казансу / Qazansu ) is a 142 km long left tributary of the Volga River in the Republic of Tatarstan in the European part of Russia.

Description

The Kasanka rises in the northeast of the Autonomous Republic of Tatarstan in the vicinity of the village Kasanbasch and initially flows in a southerly and southwesterly direction. In Arsk they turn into more western directions and flows through the eastern Tatarstan.

In many curves it flows through the agricultural landscape, and finally reached the outskirts of Kazan. In Kazan the backwater of the Kuibyshev reservoir begins on the Volga, in the Kasanka finally opens.

Attractions and Culture

At the mouth of the Kasanka into the Volga is the Kazan Kremlin, the seat of government of Tatarstan and as an important example of the connection of architectural elements of the Christian- Orthodox- Russian and Muslim Tatar architectural styles since 2000 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2005 ( Милленниум күпере / Millennium Küpere Russian Мост Милленниум, tatar. ) Was in the course of the celebrations for the 1000th anniversary of Kazan, the Millennium Bridge opened.
