KazSat

KazSat (Russian КазСат, Kazakh ҚазСат ) is the name of a number of Kazakh communication satellite.

KazSat 1

KazSat 1, originally - before there were plans for a successor - also called KazSat, the first Kazakh satellite, on June 17, 2006 at 22:44 UTC clock (June 18, local time) with a Russian Proton-K/Block- DM3 carrier rocket from Baikonur was launched into space.

KazSat 1 is built from the Russian space company GKNPZ Khrunichev geostationary communications satellite which has 12 transponders in Ku-band and to be positioned at 103 degrees East. The satellite is based on the " Jachta " satellite platform (Russian Яхта, English Yakhta ), which he, the second satellite is due to your monitor E1, which uses this platform. The take-off mass of for today's communications satellites relatively small missile is 1092 kg, the payload 180 kg, with an electrical output of 1.3 kW. The planned service life is 12.5 years. The propulsion system for orbital maneuvers and attitude control consists of a SPD -70 ion engine, which works with xenon, and a K10K - cold gas engine.

The contract for the construction and launch of KazSat 1 with a volume of 55 million U.S. dollars was signed in January 2004. Initially it was intended, 1 start KazSat together with an Express -AM satellites on a Proton-M/Bris-M-Rakete in December 2005. Later, however, was decided individually KazSat 1 and start on a slightly weaker and cheaper Proton-K/Block-DM. As for the monitor -E1 satellite shortly after its launch in August 2005 occurred problems, moved to the launch of KazSat 1 in addition to several months to mid-2006, to allow time for further soil tests. The launch was initially scheduled for June 8, but had to be postponed to June 18, so that the Russian and the Kazakh head of state ( Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbayev ) - on that day visit to Baikonur - may attend the launch.

On 26 November 2008, the ground control lost contact with KazSat -1 in the result the satellite has been classified as a total loss due to a failure of the "Control Engine Wheels" KUDM.

KazSat 2

After the first KazSat satellite was successfully launched, there were talks on the successor KazSat 2 On September 25, 2006 it was announced that this satellite of GKNPZ Khrunichev to build. The contract is worth 115 million U.S. dollars, the launch took place on 15 July 2011.

KazSat 3

The first phase of a tender for the development of KazSat -3 was completed in January 2011. According to Kazakh authorities there were offers from France, Germany, Japan, Russia, USA, Israel and India to develop the spacecraft.

During the Paris Air and Space Show at Le Bourget on 20 June 2011, an agreement on the construction of KazSat -3 satellite with the Russian company ISS Reshetnev was signed. The satellite will be built on the Ekspress - 1000N - satellite bus from ISS Reshetnev. Its launch is planned for 2013. As the position 58.5 degrees east longitude and 15 years as life is planned. It should be equipped with 28 Ku- band transponders and 5.5 kilowatts provide power for its payload. The communications payload will provide Thales Alenia Space again.
