Kazuko Ito-Yamaizumi

Kazuko Yamaizumi (Japanese山泉 和 子, Yamaizumi Kazuko; married Kazuko Ito (伊藤 和 子, Ito Kazuko ); born January 17, 1935) is a Japanese table tennis player. The late 1950s and early 1960s, she was one of the most successful table tennis players and won five world titles.

National success

Kazuko Yamaizumi was repeatedly Japanese champion, about 1957 and 1958 and 1961 in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

International success

From 1996 to 1971 Yamaizumi six times took part in the World Championships. They were 1959, 1961 and 1963 with the Japanese women's team team world champion. In addition, she won the title in 1959 in a double with Taeko and Namba 1963 Mixed by Koji Kimura. Bronze she won in 1963 in a double with Noriko Yamanaka.

At the Asia Championships she won gold in 1960 in singles, doubles (with Kimiyo Matsuzaki ) and with the team in the Mixed with Teruo Murakami, she reached the final. In 1963 she defended with the Japanese team the title and still won the Mixed competition with Manji Fukushima.

In the ITTF World Ranking Kazuko Yamaizumi in 1961 led to fourth place.

Thirteen titles she won at Senior World Championships in each age class: Single 1982, 1984, 1986, 1990, 1996, 2002, and in the twin 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1996, 2004.

In 2010 she was inducted into the ITTF Hall of Fame.

Private

Kazuko Yamaizumi was a student. In 1960 she married and then was called Kazuko Ito.
