Kazushige Ugaki

Ugaki Kazushige (Japanese宇 垣 一 成, born August 21, 1868 in Okayama Prefecture, † April 30, 1956 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese general.

He graduated in 1891 at the Military Academy and in 1925 was General. He was military attaché at the Japanese Embassy in Berlin. About four terms of office he was Defense Minister and 1927 and from 1931 to 1936 Governor General of occupied Korea.

In February 1937, after the fall of the Cabinet Hirota, he was provided for the post of Prime Minister, but could not form a cabinet because of differences with the leadership of the Japanese Army. It was in May 1938 at the following Konoe Cabinet Secretary I, but resigned in September back.

He ran along with other generals the Tōseiha of the armed forces, an association of conservative and moderate officers as opposed to radical Kōdōha.
