Keb' Mo'

Keb 'Mo' (actually Kevin Moore, born October 3, 1951 in Los Angeles, California) is an American blues singer, guitarist and songwriter. His idol is blues legend Robert Johnson.

Life

Although he refers to Robert Johnson's music, he works them in a contemporary way, by letting incorporated elements of soul and folk in his music. Early on Moore had his own calypso band. In the 1970s and 1980s he played with various blues bands, including the backing of Papa John Creach. A 1980 recorded solo album flopped. In 1983 he was a guitarist in Monk Higgins band. Here he met several blues musicians who influenced his guitar style. Keb 'Mo' himself describes this time as the most important in his musical development.

Only in 1994 he released his next solo album Keb 'Mo', which marks the beginning of his solo career under this name. Since then, he got three Grammys ( Best Contemporary Blues Album) for Just Like You, Slow Down, Keep it Simple.

As early as 1990 had Keb 'Mo' a role as a blues musician in a play. In 1997, he played Robert Johnson in the film Can not You Hear the Wind Howl? , 2007 Honeydripper.
