Kebnekaise mountain lodge

Fjällstation The Kebnekaise is a mountain hut in Northern Sweden. It lies at an altitude of 690 meters at the foot of Kebnekaise and is operated by Svenska Turistföreningen ( STF).

History of mountain station

A first building, the Stenhyddan, was built in 1907. The Stenhyddan had 18 beds in two rooms and had the cabins in the Alps as a model. Over the years there have been a total of five extensions to the mountain station, the last in 1991.

Today's station

Today's mountain station (2011) has 198 beds in six buildings. Services include, among others, a restaurant, a bakery and a sauna. Opened and managed the lodge has made from mid- February to mid- May and from mid-June to mid-September. Outside of this period, a shelter for emergencies is open.

Day Trips

Trips from the station include a hike along a 1.5 -kilometer-long flower path on which you can experience the vegetation of the Fell, a day trip to Tarfala and the ascent of Kebnekaise, the highest with an altitude of 2104 meters mountain in Sweden. There is the possibility of guided tours to the summit in the mountain station to book.

Trails

The distances are to be situated at the Royal Trail hiking hut Singi 14 km, to hiking hut in Tarfala 8 km and 19 km to Nikkaluokta. The walk to Nikkaluokta can be shortened during the summer season at the lake with a boat Ladtjojaure by 6 kilometers. The road from Nikkaluokta via Kebnekaise to Singi is also often used as a feeder to the Royal Trail to migrate from Singi from the Royal Trail to Abisko or Vakkotavare.
