Keechelus Lake
The Keechelus Lake is a lake in Kittitas County in the U.S. state of Washington. The natural lake is located 16 km northwest of Easton and is dammed by the Keechelus Dam to a size of 12.7 km ². The outlet of the lake is considered the source of the Yakima River.
The dam is an earth dam was built as a part of the Yakima Project for irrigation by the Bureau of Reclamation. The 1916 completed dam is 39 m high and 584 m long.
The name comes from a Keechelus Indian language and means " fischarm " as opposed to Kachess Lake, which is called " full of fish ". The lake is located in the Wenatchee National Forest. The lake is a popular destination for water sports and fishing.
