(Keep Feeling) Fascination

(Keep Feeling) Fascination is a song by British synthpop group The Human League in the year 1983. Was written by Jo Callis and Philip Oakey and composed and published in 1983 as a single.

Background

Time between albums Dare! and settled Hysteria, provides (Keep Feeling) Fascination is the final collaboration with producer Martin Rushent, the work left to begin production of Hysteria in the dispute. In the song, all group members Philip Oakey, Susan Ann Sulley and Joanne Catherall singing several choruses, and short is also Jo Callis to hear, was hardly otherwise as a singer in appearance. In the British charts the title reached number 2 and just missed the top. Later, the single was released in the U.S. and reached # 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, it also became the first number-one hit by The Human League in the U.S. Hot Dance Music / Club Play charts.

The B-side to (Keep Feeling) Fascination is the piece Total Panic, an early instrumental version of the song Do not You Know I Want You, which was released on the next album Hysteria.

In addition to the single version of the song was also released on an EP called Fascination in two alternative versions: As the " Extended Version " with a length of 4:56 minutes and improvisation with a length of 6:12 minutes. Both versions were also produced by Rushent in his Genetic Sound Studios; the extended version was mixed by Chris Thomas, who took over with Hugh Padgham and the production of Hysteria. The EP was released a few days before the single and the British Phonographic Industry (BPI ) awarded on 1 May 1983 with a Silver record.

The color design of the single was directed by a short-lived color code for The Human League had been launched: The phrase " Red " (Eng. "red") should be available for a dance track, the blue backing, in turn, symbolizes a pop song.

Music Video

The music video to (Keep Feeling) Fascination was shot in Newham, London, at that time a largely cleared and enabled to demolition and redevelopment district. The music video shows how to find the band members with a map of London to find a place that is marked on the map with a red dot.

The House (1 First Avenue, London E13 8AP ) m which is marked on the map, and the surrounding area ( the intersection of 1st Avenue and 3rd Avenue ) are completely painted red; the same applies to a parked car nearby. At the beginning of the video you can see the map of London, then zooms in until the camera moves through a window into a gray -painted room, where the band plays.

The director for the music video took over Steve Barron. All scenes in which the band is seen were shot in a studio; Susan Ann Sulley said that the house was inhabited by a family while it deleted and the scenes were filmed there. The house remained red for several weeks until it was demolished in the summer of 1983.
