Kefenrod located in the western Vogelsberg.

Neighboring communities and circles

Kefenrod borders in the north on the town Gedern, in the east on the community Birstein ( Main- Kinzig- Kreis), in the southeast on the community Brachttal ( Main- Kinzig-Kreis ) in the south to the city of Waechtersbach ( Main-Kinzig -Kreis), on the southwest by the city Büdingen and in the west on the town of Ortenberg.

The municipality consists of the villages Kefenrod Bindsachsen, castle Bracht, Helfersdorf, Hitzkirchen and Kefenrod.

History

On March 25, 1377 Kefenrod was first mentioned as Keberode. Barrows and findings, however, show that there has been a settlement of the district already 500-1300 AD.

Incorporations

On December 31, 1971, the independent communities Bindsachsen, castle Bracht and Hitzkirchen were incorporated. On August 1, 1972, added Helfersdorf.

Coat of arms

On 10 May 1968, the municipality Kefenrod was awarded a coat of arms with the following blazon in the former county Büdingen: In a golden oblique right - wave beams divided shield above in black two crossed silver swords, down in green two crossed silver heels.

Events

Kefenrod organizes annual events such as the Italian evening or Backhaus hard. In 2008, the 100 - year celebration of the gymnastics club Kefenrod took place.

Rudolf Kessler was elected on 22 September 2013, 55.8 % of the vote. Its predecessor was Mayor Bernd Kling (SPD - 1990-2013 ). Kessler took office on 1 January 2014.

The parish council consists of two aldermen of the CDU, two aldermen of the SPD, an Assistant Secretary of the FWG and the mayor (SPD).
