Ķekava

Ķekava ( German Keckau ) a place in the Latvian region Semgallen is located 17 km south of the capital Riga. The place is located to the left of the Daugava River in close proximity to Riga reservoir.

History

The watermills of a good Keckau were first mentioned in writing in 1435. After the division of Livonia in 1561 the estate was part of the Duchy of Courland and after 1793 the Russian province of Courland. From this time the Lutheran Church, which forms the town center today originates.

The growth of the town began as 1969, the local collective farm was established. Despite the large population ( Compared to most other cities), Ķekava was awarded no city rights.

Bordesholm ( Germany ) has a community partnership with Ķekava.

Ķekavas novads

After an administrative reform of the place, together with the city Baloži and two rural municipalities in administrative matters. The district ( Ķekavas novads ) covers an area of ​​270.2 km ² and is home to 21673 inhabitants (as of 1 July 2010).
