Kel Adagh

The Kel Ifoghas, even Kel Adagh ( var Kel Adrar, Kel Adghagh ) called, are a confederation of Tuareg clans who live in the region of Adrar Ifoghas, an expansive 250,000 square kilometers of mountain range in the Sahara, Mali.

The name derives from Kel from ( the from / to) and Adagh ( = mountain ). Today, no longer live all these Tuareg confederation in the Adrar des Iforas. Many Tuareg confederation of these spread over the north of Niger, to regions of the Aïr and the south of Algeria to the Tassili n'Ajjer and the Ahaggar.

The Kel Ifoghas derived concept of warriors from that came from the caste of Imajaren ( noblemen ) and the Imajaren (soldiers). Among the Kel Ifoghas subordinate to the Kel Afella in the north, the Kel Taghlit, the Kel Essouk, the Kel Ouzzeyn that Ifergoumessen and Kel Iriyaken. Also worthy of note are the Taghat Mellet, the Idnan and Ibatanaten.

Early 2012 took over Tuareg fighters of the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad ( MNLA ), several cities in the north of Mali, which triggered a coup in Mali. During the ensuing operation Serval Human Rights Watch reported on killings and human rights violations against Tuareg by the Malian army in the city Niono. By the end of January 2013, the Islamist groups could be pushed back from all major cities of the region.
