KEMA

KEMA is an inspection of the electrical industry in Arnhem in the Netherlands.

History

The KEMA was founded in 1927 by provincial authorities, local authorities and energy suppliers in the Dutch city of Arnhem. The acronym stands for KEMA Keuring van Electrotechnical materials te Arnhem ( en: inspection of electrical equipment in Arnhem ). The company is now owned by several Dutch energy supplier. The laboratories of KEMA were opened in 1938 by Prince Bernhard in 1939 and expanded. The four generators of the laboratory can achieve a capacity of 8,400 megavolt-amperes in sum, therefore, this laboratory is the biggest short-circuit laboratory in the world. Tasks

KEMA advises and supports government bodies, manufacturers, suppliers and consumers. The output from the KEMA KEMA -KEUR mark indicates to the consumer that the product tested is safe. The KEMA Quality, low voltage systems, electrical components, electronic and medical products as well as management systems tested and certified, was sold to the DEKRA 2009. In addition, the company also tests and certifies products, systems and individuals for a wide range of clients.
