KEMET Corporation ( KEMET ) is an American manufacturer of capacitors. The focus of the product range is tantalum capacitors, ceramic capacitors and aluminum capacitors. Revenue in 2007 was $ 1 billion. 90 % of the production takes place in low-wage countries. 2007 KEMET had 10,100 employees.

History

KEMET is a spin-off from the Union Carbide Corporation, was established on 1 April 1987 as KEMET Electronics Corporation. Union Carbide Corporation initially still held 50 % of equity. With the establishment of KEMET Corporation on December 21, 1990, the Union Carbide Corporation has also separated from these proportions. In April 2006, the acquisition of EPCOS Tantalum capacitors was completed. In 2007, the product lines film capacitors ( Evox Rifa, Arcotronics ) and aluminum electrolytics ( BHC, Evox Rifa ) were added to the Group. The Company's shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol KEM.
