Ken Weston

Kenneth William " Ken " Weston (* May 30, 1947 in London, † April 13, 2001 ) was a British engineer, who was honored for his work on Gladiator with an Oscar. Between 1974 and 2001, he worked on over 50 films.

Life

Weston arrived in London to the world, but grew up in Borehamwood. He first worked as a sound assistant, among others in the films The Order of the Dragon, Bugsy Malone, Flash Gordon and Amadeus involved. In 1978, he was also at 12 clock at night as an actor in a bit part in front of the camera. In 1983, Weston worked as a sound engineer. He was there in productions such as Another Country, Robin Hood - involved Snapping flow - A Life for Richard the Lionheart and White Squall. For Evita Weston received a first Oscar nomination for Best Sound as well as a BAFTA nomination.

Weston was a founding member of the Association of Motion Picture Sound. His biggest success was the film gladiator sandals, for he 2001 Oscar in the category Best Sound received. At this time his kidney cancer disease was so far advanced that he could not attend the award ceremony on 25 March 2001. Scott Millan and Bob Beemer, who received an Oscar along with Weston, dedicated to him an Oscar. Less than a month later, Weston succumbed to his illness. The Independent wrote in an obituary that Weston has died at the height of his career. Weston was married to his second wife and had two biological children.
