Kenneth E. Hagin

Kenneth Erwin Hagin ( born August 20, 1917 in McKinney, Texas; † 19 September 2003) was a very influential preacher from the USA. He is often regarded as the father of the Word of Faith Movement (Word of Faith ). Hagin had never studied theology. The charismatic Oral Roberts University awarded him an honorary doctorate from the seventies.

Life

Hagin came in McKinney, Texas, the son of Lillie Viola Drake Hagin and Jess Hagin on the world. He married Oretha Rooker, from whom he had two children: a son, Jr., Kenneth Hagin and a daughter Patricia Harrison ( widowed). K. Hagin Jr. is the current pastor, founded by senior Hagin Rhema Bible Church and President of Kenneth Hagin Ministries. Patricia Harrison is the owner of the publishing house located in Oklahoma Harrison House.

Youth

By his own testimony Hagin suffered as a child from a congenital heart defect. You did not expect that he would survive his terminal illness. Weakened by illness, he was bedridden at the age of 15 years. During a dramatic conversion, he reported that in ten minutes he died three times and came back to life again. Every time during these transitions he saw the atrocities of Hell.

Pastor Hagin

Two years after his conversion Hagin preached his first sermon as pastor of a small community church in Roland, Texas. Hagins favorite Bible passage was ( Mk 11, 23 EU): "I assure you, if anyone says to this mountain, up, throw yourself into the sea, ' and does not doubt, but believes strongly that it happens, it happens. " Hagin said to this point many times ," I have this place so often quoted, that some might think I would have written it, but I did not, it's holy word and a promise of God. " During the next twelve years Hagin preached in five different churches in Texas. In 1949 he began to work as a traveling Bible teacher and evangelist. Soon he became a full member of the Full Gospel Business founded in 1951 Men's Fellowship International ( FGBMFI ). 1963 Hagin Association was founded, which in 1966 moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the same year he held his first sermon on the radio. A year later he began to preach regularly in a radio broadcast, which was continued after his death as Faith Seminar of the Air. Since the establishment of this association Hagins and guided by their media grew rapidly.

  • Rhema Bible Training Center ( One of the greatest theological training centers worldwide with over 50,000 graduates )
  • The Rhema Prayer and Healing Center

In 1974, the Rhema Bible Training Center Hagin, which in over 34 countries today has offshoots. In 1979 he founded the Prayer and Healing Center, which offers patients a place to strengthen their faith. In addition to these things, the Rhema Association supports projects of other Christians around the world.

Death

Three days after Hagin fell into a coma due to a cardiac arrhythmia, he died. His death in churches around the world from an echo. His funeral was even broadcast on the Internet.

A controversial legacy

The successor Hagins saw him as a dynamic preacher, teacher and prophet who gained fame through his sermons and financial gifts " in the faith ". The essence of his teaching is based predominantly on the topic faith.
