Kenneth L. Johnson

Kenneth Langstreth Johnson ( born March 19, 1925 in Barrow-in- Furness ) is a British engineering scientists for mechanics.

He graduated from Manchester University with a bachelor's degree in 1944, her Master's degree in 1949 and his doctorate in 1955. 1944 to 1949 he was technical assistant to Rotol Limited and 1949-1954 Assistant Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He was a professor at Cambridge University, where he started in 1954 as a lecturer in 1992 and retired. He is known for contributions to the contact mechanics.

In 2006 he received the Timoshenko Medal, the 1991 Mayo D. Hersey Award and in 1999 the William Prager Medal. In 1982 he became a Fellow of the Royal Society, the Royal Medal he received in 2003. He was also a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

He has been married since 1954 and has three children.
