Kent Peninsula

Geographical location

Kent Peninsula is a large peninsula, almost completely surrounded by water, in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut on the north coast of the Canadian mainland.

From a narrow isthmus of the peninsula extends 170 km westward into the Coronation Gulf. In the north the Dease Strait separates the peninsula of Victoria Iceland and the Finlayson Islands. Northwest of the peninsula lies the Queen Maud Gulf. Melville Sound, Parry Bay and Elu Inlet lying between the Kent Peninsula and the mainland. Cape Flinders is the westernmost point of the peninsula. On the peninsula there are many unnamed lakes and rivers.

Historically, the Umingmuktogmiut subgroup of the Copper Inuit had a permanent settlement on the west coast of the peninsula.
