Kenwood was a Japanese company in the entertainment and communications electronics industry.

History

After the 2nd World War Kenwood 1946 as a radio producer, originally as Kasuga Radio Co. Ltd.. Founded in Komagane City of Jiro Kasuga and renamed in 1950 in Kasuga Radio Industry Corporation. 1955 in Tokyo, a plant was built for mass production in 1960 and renamed the company in Trio Corporation. In 1961, the company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. With an office in Los Angeles began in 1963, the expansion and global marketing. On 14 May 1968, the European office opened in Belgium. In 1972, the company's founder Jiro Kasuga left the company and founded a new company named Kensonic. From 1980 the company has specialized in the production and marketing of radio and cassette devices for motor vehicles "Car Audio ". 1982 Kenwood was involved with the development of the first CD player. 1986 was again a change of name to Kenwood Corporation and manufacture of portable CD players.
