Kevin Blackwell

Kevin Patrick Blackwell ( born December 21, 1958 in Luton ) is a retired English footballer and current coach. Most recently, he coached the English fourth division FC Bury.

Playing career

Kevin Blackwell played in his youth at Cambridge United. There, however, he not made ​​the breakthrough and joined the amateur club Bedford Town. In addition, he worked as a bricklayer. Until 1980, Blackwell was still playing at the Barton Rovers, the Middlesex Wanderers and FC Barnet. After that, he played for six years with Boston United. In the final of the FA Trophy in 1985, he gave a penalty, but his team still lost with 1:2 against FC Wealdstone. It was followed by another brief interlude in Barnet, before the goalkeeper in 1986 by Neil Warnock was brought to Scarborough FC. 1989 Warnock went to Notts County and a short time later, also Blackwell. There he came in four years, but in no single league use. In 1993, his coach to Torquay United and Blackwell followed him one more time. Coaching career

In 1998, Kevin Blackwell moved back to his longtime trainer Neil Warnock, who was now operating at Bury FC. Blackwell took over the post of goalkeeper coach. In 2004 he took over as coach at Leeds United. In his first season he set the record for most transfers of the club on a season. After only seven points from eight games and the associated second from bottom place Blackwells contract was terminated. Six months later he was introduced as the new coach of Luton Town. After the club at the end of the year filed for bankruptcy, Blackwell announced his intention to leave the club. Before he could even realize it but this was dismissed by the club's management. From 14 February 2008, he trained as the successor of Bryan Robson second division Sheffield United. This office he held until shortly after the beginning of the season 2010/11.
