Kevin C. Rhoades

Kevin Carl Rhoades (* November 26, 1957 in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania ) is a Roman Catholic priest and bishop of Fort Wayne - South Bend.

Life

His school days spent Rhoades in Lebanon, where he attended the Lebanon Catholic High School. Rhoades studied for two years Roman Catholic theology and philosophy at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, after which he moved to the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. From 1979 to 1983 he studied in Rome at the Pontifical North American College at the Pontifical Gregorian University. On April 22, 1982 Rhoades was ordained by the Archbishop of New York, Terence Cardinal Cooke James deacon and on July 9, 1983 by Bishop William Henry Keeler a priest of the Diocese of Harrisburg.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 14 October 2004 as Bishop of Harrisburg. His episcopal ordination he received on 9 December 2004 by the Archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal Justin Francis Rigali. Co-consecrators were the now Archbishop of Baltimore and Cardinal William Henry Keeler appointed and the bishop of Phoenix, Thomas James Olmsted. His motto is: veritatem In caritate ( Ephesians 4:15 ).

Pope Benedict XVI. Rhoades appointed on 14 November 2009 as Bishop of Fort Wayne - South Bend. The inauguration was followed on January 13 of next year.
