It varies in style between Indie Rock, Folk-Rock and American Acoustic -Folk; a sympathy he harbors also for the genres of alternative rock, grunge and lo-fi belonging to 90s bands like Concrete Blonde, Pavement, Nirvana, and Pedro the Lion, of which he repeatedly coverte songs at concerts, as well as EPs and a B - pages grossed. Further to such verzeichnende influences from the more acoustic field include Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Neutral Milk Hotel and Elliott Smith. Later, he was lead singer and guitarist of the band Miracle of '86; both bands were in the broadest sense to settle in the genres of indie rock, alternative rock, post-hardcore and post-punk. After graduating from New York's Fordham University in 2001 with a major in journalism, he devoted himself intensively to his musical career, but turned up to the emergence period of his third solo album still not completely Miracle of '86 from. He looked at the band as a "kind of screamy rock thing", a characterization which thereby greatly from the " folkie songs" differed, which hovered him in the future. With his fourth album he released in 2006 the first on a major label. A few months after the publication he lost as a result of the merger of Capitol Records Virgin Records with his major - contract but again and had to return to the well-known indie label for now.
