Kevin Kuranyi Dennis Rodríguez ( born March 2, 1982 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ) is a German footballer who is at FK Dynamo Moscow under contract. The striker was also active for the German national football team.

Origin

Kuranyi was born in Brazil, grew up in Panama and has three nationalities: German, Brazilian and Panamanian. By the age of 16 years he lived in Latin America. His paternal family originates originally from Hungary, Kuranyi's grandfather was born in Budapest paternal yet. His father grew up in the room Ludwigsburg, before he emigrated to Brazil. His mother is from Panama.

Kuranyi's name is common in the German media only in the rarest of cases, as in Hungarian as [' kura: ɲi ] pronounced with stress on the first syllable.

Career

Association

About the clubs Serrano FC Petropolis and Las Promesas Panama he came in 1997 to VfB Stuttgart. In 2003 he was awarded the German VfB runner-up. In the 2003 /04 season he finished fourth and reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.

From the season 2005/2006 played Kuranyi of FC Schalke 04, in which he had a contract until 30 June 2010. The change brought VfB Stuttgart a € 6.9 million.

In August 2005 he won the League Cup with Schalke. At 1-0 in the final against VfB Stuttgart, he scored the only goal. With Schalke he was again in the league in fourth and reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals. In May 2007, Kuranyi was the second time in his career, German Vice Champion. In 2008, he reached the quarter-finals Schalke 's Champions League.

In the 2007 /08 season he scored the first four-pack of his Bundesliga career: In the 5-0 win on 15 April 2008 against Energie Cottbus Kuranyi marked the hit two to five. On December 6, 2009, he scored his side's lead to 1-0 against Hertha BSC his 100th Bundesliga goal.

With his tenth goal of the season 23 January 2010 against VfL Bochum Kuranyi scored in eight consecutive seasons a two-digit number of season hits. With a total of 71 Bundesliga goals Kuranyi is behind Klaus Fischer ( 182 goals) and Ebbe Sand (74 goals) in 3rd place of the most successful Schalke's Bundesliga scorers. His contract with FC Schalke 04 expired on 30 June 2010.

During the summer break in 2010 Kuranyi joined the Russian club FK Dynamo Moscow. Due to the missing years national and international achievements of the club in exchange of observers was classified as a sporting throwback. His first competitive match for Dynamo Moscow denied Kuranyi 31 July 2010 in a 1-1 draw against Krylia Sovetov Samara. He scored his first goal on 14 August 2010 in his second game in a 1-1 away draw at Zenit St Petersburg. On 17 November 2011 Kuranyi extended his contract with Dynamo Moscow early to mid 2015.

National

His first international match in the German national team, he played on 29 March 2003 in Nuremberg 's 1-1 draw against Lithuania. Kevin Kuranyi took with the German national team at the 2004 European Championships in Portugal and in 2005 part of the Confederations Cup in Germany. From the former Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann Kuranyi was not nominated for the 2006 World Cup. On 7 February 2007, he was in a 3-1 win against Switzerland, his comeback in the national selection and made immediately to make it 1-0. The 2-1 victory in the European Championship qualifier against the Czech Republic on 24 March 2007, he scored both goals for the German team. On 28 March 2007 Kuranyi ran in a friendly against Denmark in Duisburg the first time as captain of the German national team. For the UEFA Euro 2008, he was appointed by Germany coach Joachim Loew in the German squad.

In the game 11 October 2008 against Russia, in which he was sitting only in the stands, he traveled without authorization before the second half back home. Then responded Loew and informed Kuranyi's club. During the night after the match Löw precipitated the decision to no longer rely Kuranyi to internationals. For the non-consideration at the soccer World Cup in 2010 but according to Löw was this incident not been decisive, but Kuranyi will not fit in personnel and tactical reasons in the national team.

Kuranyi has been married since May 26, 2007, his longtime partner Victorija and has one son and one daughter.
