Kew

Kew is a district of London and is located in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in south west London. He is famous for the local Royal Botanic Gardens (that now is a UNESCO World Heritage Site). In addition, there are Kew Palace and the British National Archives to find.

The name " Kew Village " refers to several store rows that are adjacent to the Kew Gardens station. These accommodate a wide variety of merchants, restaurants ( as well as the excellent "The Glass House " ), and a number of cafes. The district Kew developed mainly in the late 19th century, when the lines of the London Underground were built there. The area is characterized by many large detached houses as well as many semi-detached houses. The residential area is due to the good transport links and proximity to Kew Gardens, popular and therefore expensive.

The name Kew is composed of two terms together: the old French " kai " (landing place, quay derives from it ), and the Old English word " hoh " ( country foothills ). The land spur is the bend in the River Thames.
