Khojaly Massacre Memorial in Berlin

" Khojaly " ( aserb. Xocalı ) is a monument to the victims of the massacre in Khojaly. It stands in the Berlin district of Zehlendorf in the Reading Garden of Gottfried Benn library. The authors of the monument are the Azerbaijani artist Akif Asgarov, Ali Ibadullayev, Ibrahim Ahrari and Salhab Mammadov.

The sculpture was unveiled on May 30, 2011. District Councillor Cerstin - Ullrike Richter Kotowski gave a welcoming address and honored the artists. Invited guests included the ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Parviz Shahbazov, and the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adalat Veliyev. From the Steglitz- Zehlendorf district mayor Norbert Kopp, Council Chairman Uwe Stäglin and numerous district councilors were present.

The bronze represents hope for a peaceful future for the peoples.
