Khoo Boon Hui

Khoo Boon Hui (born 1954 in Singapore) is a politician from Singapore. He was 2008-2012 President of Interpol.

Biography

Khoo began his career in 1977 with the police of Singapore (Singapore Police Force ) and increased over time as Chief of Police Staff, Director of the Judicial Police ( Criminal Investigation Department ) and Deputy Police Commissioner ( Deputy Commissioner of Police ) on.

He also holds a degree in engineering and economics at the University of Oxford and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA Engineering Science and Economics ). A post-graduate degree in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School, he finished with a Master of Arts (MA Public Administration).

In 1997, he was finally President ( Commissioner) of the SPF. In this role, he promoted the fight against crime, which made Singapore one of the safest cities in the world with a very low crime rate. During this time he completed in 2002 a management course at the Wharton School.

In addition to that, he was elected in 2006 to one of the three Vice-Presidents of the Executive Committee of Interpol and as such was responsible for Asia. During his two-year tenure, he worked actively to strengthen the relationship between Interpol and the police forces in Southeast Asia. These efforts culminated in the signing of the Declaration of cooperation between ASEANAPOL and Interpol in June 2007. In October 2008, he was appointed as successor to Jackie Selebi President of Interpol elected for a lasting until 2012 four -year term.

On 1 February 2010 he was appointed Principal Deputy Secretary ( Senior Deputy Secretary ) at the Home Office of Singapore ( Ministry of Home Affairs ) has been appointed and is one of the extended cabinet of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on.
