Khoo Teck Puat

Khoo Teck Puat ( born January 13, 1917 † 21 February 2004) was a Singaporean businessman and banker.

Life

Puat attended Saint Joseph's Institution in Singapore. He founded the Malaysian Maybank. A hostile takeover of the British Standard Chartered Bank by Lloyds Bank in 1986, he prevented together with the Chinese banker Yue - Kong Pao and the Australian businessman Robert Holmes à Court According to the American Forbes Magazine Puat belonged before his death the wealthiest people in Singapore.
