Khovd River

The Khovd Gol ( Mongolian гол Ховд, and Khovd ) is a river in western Mongolia.

The Khovd Gol glacier originates at the south-east of Tawan Bogd Uul - in Mongolian Altai. From there it flows first in a south-easterly direction. It flows through the Altai - Tawan Bogd National Park lakes and Hoton Nuur Khurgan. He leaves the latter in a north easterly direction, turns later to the east and passes through the city Ölgii. In the Achit Nuur Depression of the river turns to the south-southeast. After 516 km it flows in the form of a broad river deltas in Lake Khar -Us Nuur, which has a drain to the adjacent endorheic lake Khar Nuur. The catchment area of ​​Khovd Gol comprises 58,000 km ².
