Khuan Don District

Amphoe Khuan Don ( Thai: อำเภอ ควนโดน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Satun. The Satun province is located in the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

Adjacent counties and regions are ( from south clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Satun The, Tha Phae Khuan Kalong and in the province of Satun, Amphoe Sadao of Songkhla province and Perlis, a state of Malaysia.

History

The old name of Khuan Don was Duson ( Thai: ดุ สน ), which is derived from the Malay Dusun, the original name of this district.

Khuan Don was initially a small district ( King Amphoe ), which was merged with Amphoe Mueang Satun. On 1 February 1977, the government separated from the Tambon Khuan Don and Khuan Sato to set up the small district again. 1 January 1988 Khuan Don got the full Amphoe status.

Management

Amphoe Khuan Don is divided into four subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 30 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.
