Khun Yuam District

Amphoe Khun Yuam ( in Thai อำเภอ ขุนยวม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of Mae Hong Son province, the province Mae Hong Son is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighbouring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Mae Hong Son province of Mae Hong Son Province, Amphoe Mae Chaem in Chiang Mai province, AmphoeMae La Noi again in Mae Hong Son and the Kayah State of Myanmar.

The Waterfall Mae Surin National Park Namtok Mae Surin is located in this district.

History

Mueang Khun Yuam was elevated to a district ( Amphoe ) in the year 1910. Khun Det Pracharak ( ขุน เดช ประชา รักษ์ ) was the first head of the district administration.

Management

Amphoe Khun Yuam is ( tambon) divided into six municipalities that continue in 45 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The small town ( thesaban tambon) Khun Yuam ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ขุนยวม ) consists of parts of the Tambon Khun Yuam.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
