Kid A is the fourth album by the English rock band Radiohead, and was released on October 2, 2000.

Description

The album is characterized by a move away from the guitar- oriented rock songs on The Bends (1995) and OK Computer (1997). After several years of touring to " OK Computer " the band decided together with producer Nigel Godrich to find a different approach to music. Result was a multi-year production period and songs that have little to do with songs in the classical sense ( verse-chorus - scheme). The instrumentation was atypical; Guitars are rarely used, a formative instrument are for the ondes Martenot.

Importance

In advance of the publication was almost completely without advertising, so the band gave no interviews, and there were no videos or playing uncoupled singles were instead blips circulated.

The first 150,000 copies of European contains an error: the CDs start with about a 40 -second intro a live performance by another band (Pearl Jam ), so each subsequent track of the album begins 40 seconds "behind" the actual track mark.

Both the American music magazine Rolling Stone, as well as the online magazine Pitchfork Media selected "Kid A" the best album of the years 2000 to 2009. The album was awarded the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

Blips

On the Internet, circulated, as a substitute for missing clips, abstract blips, short, backed by album tracks video sequences that represented the vision of a misguided capitalism, which is populated by genetically engineered killer Bears. Those were also a sort of " mascot" of the album artwork.
