Kihelkonna Parish

Kihelkonna ( German: Kielkond ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian Saare County with an area of ​​245.94 km ². She has currently (as of end 2009) 905 inhabitants.

The local church has a historically valuable organ of Johann Andreas Stein, which was built in 1805. This was the reason for the implementation of an international symposium " To preserve historic organs in the Baltic States by the example of Johann Andreas Stein organ in Kihelkonna / Estonia " from 19 to 21 May 2006. Organizer of the symposium of the Master's program " Protection of European Cultural Heritage " were the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt / Oder and organ experts from Estonia and Sweden in cooperation with the Lutheran church Kihelkonna.

In the church was active in the years 1711-1753 Pastor Johann David Rahr, of the activities of the Moravians on Osel examined from 1743 to 1747.
