Kim Chi-ha

Kim Chi -ha ( born February 4, 1941 in Mokpo in Jeollanam ) is a South Korean writer.

Life

His real name is Kim Yeong -il ( 김영일 ,金 英 一). During high school, his father got a job in Wonju and Kim joined the school. After graduating from high school in Seoul Jungdong he began in 1959 at the Seoul National University, his aesthetic studies. One year on the compartment aesthetics was transferred to the Faculty of Arts. In the new faculty, he took part in a theater group and participated in the student movement soon. For this reason, his study time was not straight, and had to leave because of or resumption of studies, the indefinite expulsion and elimination of the measures undergo. Especially in 1964, he participated in the demonstration against the humiliating diplomacy of Park Chung -hee regime towards Japan, was arrested and had four months to Seodaemun Prison. The 70s were the most violent and difficult time for him. After his debut with The path of the yellow earth in 1969, he was sentenced several times because of his publications, such as the legal case five bandits, the legal case vulgar language, the legal case of the Democratic Students Federation and the legal case of 1974. Overall, he was seven years in prison. Because of the alleged violation of the National Security Law and the incitement to civil war he was even sentenced to death. His case became an international scandal and led to a global movement for his amnesty. 1975 decided the Afro-Asian Writers' Conference to give it the Lotus Prize and sent to President Park a demand letter to Kim's release.

He was finally released in 1980 by the domestic and international intellectuals led, ongoing protests. A year later he was awarded the Lotus Prize and simultaneously with the Bruno Kreisky Prize for his contributions to human rights. In the same year he was crowned by the World Congress of Poets with the price as The Great Poet. 22 years after the publication of the first book of poems he published in 1982 with burning thirst. There followed several books including Five bandits, Erin, Black Mountain, white room, looking up to Sternfeld and The Agony of center.

After his release, he began the teaching of the ancient and traditional culture in Korea to reinterpret and drove the intellectual movement for coexistence and peace progress that seeks a new light of civilization and an alternative. This change of thinking by Kim Chi -ha, which can be described as a philosophy of life was brought into the essay volumes life plea for Ongchi, lovers, and in Scripture grid mesh of the movement of life concretely expressed. His philosophy of life developed further to Yulryeo doctrine and movement for Neumenschen. The scientific society Yulryeo was founded by him.
