Kim Deitch

Kim Deitch ( born 1944 ) is an American cartoonist.

Life

Deitch is the son of the illustrator and animator Gene Deitch and occasionally works with his brothers Simon and Seth Deitch together. His most famous character is a mysterious cat named Waldo, who appears as a well-known cartoon character of the 1930s, as well as demonic reincarnation of Judas Iscariot. He was an important figure in the underground comix movement of the sixties, contributed regularly with humorous, psychedelic comics ( the figures as the " Sunshine Girl " or " The India Rubber Man" included ) to The East Village Other in. In 1969 he became editor of Gothic Blimp Works. Kim Deitch also worked as Fowlton Means. 2008 established the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art from a Retrospective of his work. 2003 won an Eisner Award for Deitch The Stuff of Dreams ( Fantagraphics ) 2008 Inkpot Award.
