Kim St-Pierre

Kim St- Pierre ( born December 14, 1978 in Châteauguay, Quebec ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper, who won the Canadian Women's National Team several gold medals at World Championships and Olympic Winter Games.

Career

At the age of eight years, Kim St- Pierre Hockey started playing and practicing this sport until the age of 18 years exclusively in men with male athletes from. 1998 St-Pierre began studying kinesiology at McGill University and played for the women's hockey team at the University, the McGill Martlets in the CIS. During the 2003/ 04 season it was parallel to the squad of men's teams of the University. They defeated on 15 November 2003 with the men's team at the University of Ryerson University with 5:2 and became the first goalkeeper in a CIS League, which was victorious in a men's game.

NWHL and CWHL

Upon graduating in St- Pierre played until 2006 for the Quebec Avalanche NWHL. Subsequently, this league was disbanded, and St- Pierre joined the Montreal Stars in the Canadian Women's Hockey League. In the 2007 /08 season, she was honored as CWHL Top Goaltender and selected All- Star team in the Eastern CWHL. In October 2008, wrote St- Pierre Hockey history as she stood during a training of the Montreal Canadiens in the Denis Savard Arena in goal and the flu diseased Carey Price took. She was thus the second woman in the history of the NHL after Manon Rheaume, who has been with NHL players on the ice.

Internationally

At the World Championships in 2005, 2008 and 2009, St- Pierre won the silver medal each. In addition, she was honored at the tournaments in 2001 and 2004 as the best goalkeeper.

In 2002 she was a member of the Olympic team at the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. It reached as the root goalkeeper with the national team the final against the United States, where it was defeated 3-2 and won her first Olympic gold medal. At the end of the tournament, she was also named the best goalkeeper.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin, she won her third Olympic gold medal and their second in 2010 in Vancouver.

St- Pierre holds several international records, including records for most shutouts (15 ), most of the goalkeeper wins (24) and the lowest Gegentorschnitt (0.84 ).
